The novice divisions over both hurdles and fences were a happy hunting ground for Highflyer recruits in the latest season: BOBS WORTH added the Lexus Chase to his big-race tally whilst over hurdles, THE NEW ONE took the Aintree Hurdle and MY TENT OR YOURS won a brace of Grade 1 events and finished a very close second in the Champion Hurdle itself.

Vicente was the Toast of Scotland last Saturday when taking his second consecutive Scottish National for trainer Paul Nicholls. Originally bought as a youngster from France by Anthony Bromley for owners John Hales and Ian Fogg, he was bought by Trevor Hemmings in March this year in another deal brokered by Anthony.

Highflyer sourced another 5 winners at the Aintree Grand National Festival of which 4 were at Grade 1 level. Another back-to-back Cheltenham-Aintree scorer was the top novice chaser Might Bite who again beat the Highflyer-purchased Whisper into 2nd in the Gr 1 Novices Chase over 3 miles.

San Benedeto was the other Gr 1 winner bought by Anthony Bromley when notching up his 6th victory of the campaign. There is a strong team of Highflyer buys heading for Aintree next week, so hopes are high that a new record will be set during the Grand National meeting.

Betbright Day at Kempton on Saturday 25 February was a special one for Anthony Bromley as he was responsible for the first four winners on the card including 3 Graded events. All four victors could now be heading for the Cheltenham Festival — River Frost Martin Pipe Hurdle , Master Blueyes Triumph Hurdle , Frodon JLT Novices Chase and River Wylde Supreme Novices Hurdle. Many of the Cheltenham Trials continue to go the way of Highflyer-sourced horses as both Yanworth Gr 2 Kingwell Hurdle and Zarkandar Gr 2 Rendlesham Hurdle took the honours on the weekend of 19 February.

Indeed, Zarkandar led a for Highflyer buys as he beat Aux Ptits Soins at Haydock and Yanworth was pushed hard by Sceau Royal who is now also Champion Hurdle-bound, whilst the smart chaser Saphir Du Rheu booked his place in the Gold Cup line-up with a smooth victory in the Ivan Straker Chase at Kelso.

With 10 winners over the weekend, Highflyer-bought horses are continuing to set the pace in the run-up to the Cheltenham Festival. The shining star was undoubtedly Altior , who sauntered to victory against his elders in the Gr. He is now a heavily odds-on favourite for the Arkle Trophy at Cheltenham.
