Hayley Marie Stone passed away Monday, June 12, in San Antonio, Texas at the age of She was born April 22, in Llano, Texas to Brian Stone and Tina Mangum. Hayley lived in Kingsland, Texas and attended Llano High School.

She worked as a hostess for Tamale King, and attended Packsaddle Fellowship in Kingsland, Texas and Journey Fellowship in Llano, Texas. Her interests included piano, french horn, flute, and more, she was very musically talented. Hayley was a bright, beautiful, young woman. Her passion and talents excelled in music and her love for her friends that she showed daily.

She brightened up the room when she walked in. She made an impression on the lives of everyone who knew her. Hayley was a gift to all who knew her, she now has peace and love in heaven with her God, her dad, grandad, and family.

Hayley is survived by her mother, Tina Mangum; brothers, Kaden Mangum, and David Rivera; aunts, Stacey Mangum Oliver and husband Cody, and Angela Simien and husband Joel; grandmothers, Ann Mangum and Rosemary Stone; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Born in Llano and raised in Tow, the son of Andrew and Carmen Alexander, he was a longtime resident of Tow. In his early years, Jerry would help at the family's business, Alexander Boat Dock, on Lake Buchanan.

After graduating from Llano High School inhe attended Durham Business College and he joined the U. Air Force inproudly serving his country in Taiwan for four years as an Air Pax Specialist in charge of the airbase cargo.

He moved to Odessa in to work in the oil industry from which he retired in Jerry met his wife, Roxie, in and they were married in in San Antonio, TX. This union brought together his children and her children into a blended, loving family. Robert Scott Sutton passed away Thursday, May 25, in Llano, Texas at the age of He was born December 27, in Woodbridge, Virginia to Kevin Sutton and Pamela Isaac. Robert enjoyed woodworking, but most of all he loved his daughter Cayleigh.

Memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 30, at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Chapel at 2: Though some of his methods were unconventional, he was extremely knowledgeable about agriculture and was often recognized as a Top Producer at area auctions.

He also received multiple Wildlife Conservationist awards from the Llano County Soil and Water Conservation District. As he grew older, he enjoyed spending time in his garden, coaching and umpiring baseball, and watching his two sons participate in athletics. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Llano, served as Commander of the American Legion, President of the Evening Lions Club and was a member of the local theater group for many years.

Jerry grew up in Dickens TX and went to school in Dickens and Patton Springs schools. Jerry retired from the United States Army and served in Vietnam and numerous military bases in the US and Germany. They married in July of and lived in Oklahoma City until July when they moved to Marble Falls TX to be closer to their grandsons.

Brian was a resident of Llano for most of his life and was of the Baptist faith. He married his wife, Kaye Hague February 7, in Corpus Christi. Charles Winfred PeeWee Smathers passed away May 6, at the age of PeeWee lived most of his life in the small town of Valley Spring, TX.

PeeWee was born January 23, in Brownsville, TX to Forrest and Ella Mae Heyen Smathers. He was one of 7 children — James, Frances, Marion BudLester SleepyHarriet, and Marilyn. Pee Wee attended college in Uvalde, TX.

He was drafted into the United States Army in January of and went through basic training at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. He was then transferred to Fort Chafee, Arkansas for mechanic schooling. After his schooling he was sent to Fort Jackson, South Carolina where he served as Private, Motor Pool Mechanic. Pee Wee received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Army in January of He is honored on the World War II Veterans.

Immediately after graduation from Llano High School he entered the Army where he served on the Pacific Theater in the Phillipines. His service was honored with the presentation of a Quilt of Valor on October 2, Robert was a lifelong Lutheran and was a member of St.

James Lutheran Church in Llano. He served as President, Vice President and Treasurer of the congregation for a number of years. He was strong in his faith and we take comfort knowing he has been welcomed by his heavenly Father.

Billy Don Greenwood went to his heavenly home on April 17, at the age of He was born November 1, in Burnet, Texas to Homer Greenwood and Cleva Halliburton Greenwood. He lived all his life in Llano except for a few years working in the oil fields in west Texas. The last 13 years of his life he was a resident at Care Inn of Llano.

Anita Bess Jackson Caraway passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 1, at Gateway Assisted Living in Marble Falls, TX. She had been a resident of Llano for 33 years after moving from Brownfield, Texas. Anita is survived by her daughter, Darla James and Husband Gary James; her granddaughter, Michele Goodner and her husband Shad Goodner; three great granddaughters- Olivia, Jaden and Lila Goodner; and her always adored big brother Robert Bob Jackson, and his children - Jeanette Davidson, Paulette Heimer, Robert Jackson JR.

She was born on April 16, in Breckenridge, Texas to Robert and Bess Owens Jackson. Her mother later married B. Frank Craig who was a loving step-father to Anita and her older brother Bob. They moved to a farm in Weatherford, Texas where she recalled a childhood of country fun and nourished what became a lifelong devotion to animals of all kinds, with both beloved personal pets and regular contributions to various organizations.

After graduating from Weatherford H. Inshe met W. Bill Caraway while attending Texas Wesleyan College. The couple married October 11,and welcomed their only child, Darla Catherine the following year. She would also be a loving grandmother to Michele, who spent time in the summers and traveling with her…. First to Lake Arthur, NM, then back to Texas- Joshua, Elysian Fields, Longview, Hereford, Houston and then Brownfield.

While in Houston, Anita attended the University of Houston and graduated cum laude. After Bill retired inthe couple moved to the Hill Country with plans to build their retirement home in the area. They had a fixer-upper on Lake LBJ Sunrise Beach that would be their home until then. Anita had accepted a position with Llano ISD as the elementary librarian when tragically, Bill passed away in July Widowed at only 54, Anita welcomed the consuming endeavor to help as a distraction while mourning the loss of her beloved Bill.

Anita also moved forward by designing and building their dream home in It seemed to her family that Anita could do anything she set her mind to. She created create recipes, designed and sewed clothes for the family and home with professional skill, painted in watercolor and oil, sculpted, did all forms of handwork - and even learned to hang drywall and lay tile! She still loved teaching and gave classes in stained glass to interested church members; she also organized and led several group trips to Branson, MO.

Both Anita and her brother Bob, were endowed with a love of knowledge as well as an indomitable spirit of independence. Whether it was traveling through Alaska in her first RV with her granddaughter, cat, dog and a shotgun; or many summers of living in an RV in the cool mountains of Cloudcroft, NM. She was known and admired for her passion to live a full life. She was an incredibly generous, caring and a loving woman to all her family and friends. She will long be both mourned and celebrated by those whose lives she helped guide…and will live on in their hearts.

Anita desired to be cremated; there will be a memorial gathering at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Chapel on Friday, April 7, at 1pm to celebrate her life and share memories and strength with family and friends. Ned Bower Little, 75, of Cherokee, Texas was born on May 25, He passed away in an automobile accident on March 28, near Fredericksburg, Texas. He was born and raised in Jefferson, North Carolina, the son of Mont and Ruby Little. He was a resident of Texas for 41 years. Ned was an entrepreneurial by heart and owned and operated Texas Spa Covers Inc. Ned sold the business in and he and his wife, Ann, retired in They built a second home in Placitas, New Mexico on the wild horse mesa and enjoyed traveling, church and family.

Ardis Virginia Patterson passed away March 21, in Llano, Texas at the age of She was born on April 28, in Cannon Falls, Minnesota to Carl Sorensen and Ruby Banks. Ardis was a resident of Llano for more than 40 years since coming from Burnet, and was the previous owner of the Gingerbread House.

Lanette lived in Austin most of her life, where she worked as a Veterinary Technician for 20 years. Her love for animals was a part of her beauty. Lanette was a very spirited person, not afraid to tell you what she though, never holding back anything, but also always stood by her family defending them to the bitter end.

Lanette moved to the Texas Hill Country about several years ago, returning to Austin for a short while 5 years ago to care for her Daddy until his death December 25, Lanette had a contagious laugh and would do anything for anyone. If you were her friend you were her family, she will be missed by everyone.

Norman Harry Grenwelge passed away Monday, March 13, in Fredericksburg, Texas at the age of Norman attended school in Castell, Texas and graduated in from Llano High School.

During WW II he served in the Army for a year. He was a rancher all of his life raising Duroc hogs and later polled Hereford cattle. Norman worked as a cowboy for many ranchers, cattle auction sales, and other jobs besides doing his own ranch work. He was an outstanding 4H and FFA leader. Norman received the FFA Honorary State and Chapter Farmer award; the 81 st Annual Llano Chamber of Commerce award; was named Cowboy of the Year and was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Norman was a lifetime member of St. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Bessie Bauer Grenwelge; sisters, Margaret Kent and husband Luke, Josephine and brother-in-law AV Jordan.

Carolyn Joyce Meyers passed away Wednesday, March 8, in Austin, Texas at the age of She was born November 27, in Medina, Texas to Clarence Wallace Turner and Edna Eleanora Sprott. Carolyn was a resident of Llano for 46 years, after moving from Seminole, Texas. She was a LVN with Llano Memorial Hospital, from which she retired.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Wallace Turner and Edna Turner; her sister, Lucille Garrett; and husband, James A. Gary liked to take part in community and to help others. He never met a stranger. He was a man of honor. In Llano, Gary loved to take part in the Acts Retreats, helping out at Thrift Town, visiting with everyone while working the beer tent at the Crawfish Festival, and annual church chicken dinners.

She loved being a homebody and help meet to her husband, Gerald Preston Davis, whom she was married to for 32 years. She was a big fan and supporter of the Pontotoc VFD.

It was hard to get Tommy to attend a family reunion or social event, but if he did go, he did not have any trouble smiling and socializing.

He enjoyed visiting with Roy Lee Nobles and friends at the garage and going with Roy Lee every week to the car sales in Austin. Shipp, Jr Bill passed away peacefully in his beloved town of Llano on June 6. Bill was born on December 6, in Hamilton, Texas; the only child of Julia Christianson Shipp and William R.

He grew up in Priddy, Texas, where he excelled in sports- particularly basketball, tennis, and baseball. He attended and graduated from Daniel Baker College, which became part of the Howard Payne University system.

While in school, he met Anna Belle Wasserman on a blind date. The two were wed at 20 years of age. Bill coached and taught social studies for a year at Llano ISD. Deciding that a job indoors was not for him, he entered DPS patrol school. After graduating from DPS academy, he was called to serve in the military.

He was stationed in Germany near Stuttgart, where he was an officer in the military police, after the German surrender in World War II. After his stint in the army, Bill returned home and was stationed in Llano as a DPS officer, a position he held and enjoyed for 35 years. Upon his retirement, Llano declared a Bill Shipp Day, and a community-wide banquet was given in his honor.

Among the gifts and awards he received were the flag that had flown over the Texas State Capitol the day he retired. Bill made lifelong friends in Llano. He was a Mason and was part of the "Corner Drug Crowd" for decades that met every morning for coffee and spirited conversation. He and the domino-playing group met at many locales, the last being what Bill called, "North of Town", referring to Dan Hoerster's place in the county.

An avid sportsman, Bill and his friends would travel to Colorado each year to hunt in the Fall. Bill's later life was made rich by his grandsons. He loved to help with and watch their activities. He never missed a single practice, performance, or game.

She worked at several hospitals. The first, Sheppard Hospital in Burnet and the original Llano Hospital located where the radio station is presently. She did private duty nursing in both Llano and San Antonio. She was the only RN when the Llano Memorial Hospital was built. This required her to be on call for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for many years.

She was the Director of Nursing, Charge Nurse, Staff Nurse and Surgical Nurse. She was an integral part of the hospital for over 25 years. She absolutely loved her job. She taught LVN classes for 20 years and encouraged many of her students to acquire further education in order to become R. She definitely had a strong work ethic which influenced her students and children.

Lila and her husband, Sid, had pecan plaques, ribbons and awards from their Pecan Farm, too numerous to count. Lila greatly loved sewing, embroidery, crocheting, reading books and her kindle, crossword puzzles, PECANS, her gardening, traveling and spoiling her grandchildren.

After receiving his undergrad degree, John enrolled in the Navy, during WWII, where he served in the Philippines as an electrician until the end of the war. Following graduation, John re-enlisted into the US Air Force where he and Willene were stationed at Reese AFB for the next 2 years, during the Korean War. Following retirement, John continued as a relief pharmacist, culminating a year carreer in the profession. John was blessed with a fantastic intellect and had a variety of interests.

In addition to his love of music, John had become a lover of flying as a teen and continued his passion for flying both as a hobby and also as a licenced instructor, passing along his love of aviation to many many Llano residents as teacher. He was a talented woodworker and leather worker and loved archery and bow hunting. He was most proud of his service for 14 years as Mayor of Llano.

He would work in the Houston office until when he took early retirement to become an independent consultant for the petroleum industry. In his 32 years with Dow Chemical, George achieved distinction as a leading expert in enhanced oil recovery, and travelled extensively sharing his knowledge with the Petroleum industry until he retired in It was at Dow that Dad met the love of his life, Lula Mae Bonham, a Texas native who had moved to California in She had two children from a previous marriage: Travis Bonham born in Texas and Ronald Bonham born in California.

Lula and George were married in Octobereleven years after they first met. For the next seven years they lived on 10 acres of grapes near Oakley, CA, a period George and Lula would say was the happiest of their lives.

He was a competitive distance runner at Modesto Junior College, running in the first Modesto Relays. He once ran the mile in 4mins 30 sec, when it was thought no one could break the 4-minute barrier. This love of running stayed with George all his life and he last participated in the Bay to Breakers race in San Francisco when he was in his 80s. In addition to his hobby as a grape grower, George and Lula were avid bridge players.

They played both socially and in competitive duplicate bridge tournaments. George lived a long and fruitful life and passed away peacefully on April 27, due to pulmonary and respiratory complications.
